It’s A Love-War

The world looks at those with same-sex attraction and says to not deny those feelings or deny yourself love. You don’t have to struggle with love, just love whomever you want. Like I mentioned in my previous video, it really depends on what you’re definition of love is in this situation. Because the definition of love from the bible allows me to love all people deeply, no matter their sex or age. But the definition that the world gives limits whom I can “love.” So the real struggle and war we face is in whom we love most? Are we willing to allow the love for One(Jesus) trump all other loves?

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments…Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 14:15,15:9-10

So what does loving obedience look like to me? Well, it looks like not using my same-sex attractions as an excuse to be in a romantic relationship with a guy or hooking up with some stranger that really has only one thing in mind. It also drives me to spend time and energy to grow in my real relationship with Jesus. My love for God empowers me to make choices today to stand for purity. Because I love Him, I don’t go to that website. Because I love Him, I delete and have a friend put a code into my phone to restrict me from downloading that app…(again). Because of love I take a break from those friendships that keep pulling me down in the areas I’m trying to stand in because they don’t hold the same convictions as I do. And because of love, I risk sharing my struggle with brothers and sisters around me whom can support me and walk with me. I choose to pursue healthy godly relationships with those around me in community more than that one friendship that always seems to draw me into temptation.

When you are in love, it makes you do crazy things sometimes! So how crazy will you let your love for God be? This love you will never regret giving because the return is SO great! This love is worth it. Is it worth it to you? Check out more about this on my video below!

  1. Kyle! Speaking of love… I LOVE YOU BRO!! You’re on another level and I’m proud to call you friend! Apart from because I genuinely enjoy you and personality and really believe in who you are, I love you because you’re taking a stand and becoming a voice of love AND truth to our generation!! Plus, I’m excited that you’re taking a leap of faith in putting your story out there as encouragement for so many who may have questions and are struggling with how to reconcile their faith and journey with God with their same sex attraction. Looking forward to watching and reading more. You’re THE MAN!! 🙂
